VBR Rave: Skinapy All-Natural Skincare
Hey, sweet loves, happy summer! Hope y’all are staying safe and healthy. It’s such an important time to focus on self care, especially with the current state of affairs. In an effort to showcase easy ways to treat yourself, as well as finding ways to support small businesses who need us now more than ever, I would like to introduce you guys to an indie, all-natural beauty brand that currently has me smitten, Skinapy.
Charlene, Skinapy founder and skincare wizard, is passionate about educating people about the toxic side effects of harmful synthetic chemicals and preservatives, and all of her handmade products are free of any of that funk, i.e. – parabens, sulfates, GMOs, phthalates, artificial fragrance, talc, synthetic dyes, fillers, or animal testing. She only uses high quality, vegan and organic, botanical ingredients that are highly effective and make ya feel a snack. And Charlene’s process and formulas are thoughtful and unique! For instance, in her lip balm and body butters, she uses organic olive oil infused with dried organic botanicals (often a 6 week process!), which results in even more skin-lovin’ benefits! Love that her packaging is recyclable and compostable, too—earth-friendly all the way. Ok, Let’s dive into these goodies!
Skinapy Must-Haves
Citrusy Sweet Orange Tangerine Vegan Lip Balm, $10 – I’m a bit of a lip balm snob – texture and consistency are everything! This formula is so dialed in and perfect. It’s made with nourishing plant extracts like mango butter, castor oil, and moringa-infused olive oil. It’s deeply moisturizing, smells refreshing and delicious (delicately sweet and citrusy), and I’ve personally found it to be multifunctional. Now, this is just me, but I’ve been using as a cuticle balm as well, and my hands are lovin’ it!
Ingredients: Moringa oleifera leaf infused olea europaea (olive) oil*, ricinus communis (castor) oil*, euphorbia cerifera (candelilla wax), mangifera indica (mango butter)*, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) antioxidant CO2 extract*, citrus sinensis (sweet orange) peel oil*, citrus reticulata (tangerine) peel oil* *Organic
Lavender Field Bath Salt, $16 – I’m an exclusive bath taker (I’m in that 1%, haha) and bath products are SO my jam. I never skimp on the fanciness, either – all my baths include at least some element of extra—bubbles, bath bombs, bath salts, oils… always.
The Lavender Field bath salt is ideal for winding down at the end of the day. It’s relaxing, detoxifying, and smells like absolute heaven. It has straight up lavender buds in it, too. 🙂
Ingredients: Mediterranean sea salt, magnesium sulfate (epsom) salt, sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), lavandula x intermedia (lavandin flower powder)*, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil*, lavandula angustifolia (lavender buds)* *Organic
Lovely Rose Bath Bomb, $8 – Continuing on the bath front, let’s talk about bomb-a$$ bombs! It all about the fizz factor, amiright? I think it brings out the kid in us to watch it slowly float and fizz away. The rose essence is strong with this one, maximum luxe-ness. It smells divine and leaves little rose petals floating in your water, making it feel like you’re taking a royal bath, like the queen that you are!
Ingredients: Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), citric acid, theobroma cacao (cocoa butter)*, rosa damascena (rose petal powder)*, pelargonium graveolens (geranium) oil*, hamamelis virginiana (witch hazel extract)*, rosa centifolia (rose petals)* *Organic
Luxurious Rose Body Butter, $18 – Ugh, this body butter is so delicious! It’s whipped and has the consistency of creamy frosting. Just imagine what that feels like on your skin! Every time I take a bath, I follow it with dry brushing and an abhyanga body massage using oil or lotion. This has become my latest abhyanga go-to. If you like the scent of roses, you’re gonna uber stoked – smells sooooo pretty. It’s loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals derived from organic ingredients like mango butter, rose-infused olive oil, jojoba oil, rosehip oil, and geranium essential oil. It’s perfect for mega thirsty, parched skin that needs a lil’ extra tlc. And while the formula is rich, it’s also lightweight and easily absorbed; it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling. Also, I feel a little goes a long way, so it’s good bang for the buck, to boot.
Ingredients: Mangifera indica (mango butter)*, rose rosa centifolia infused olea europaea (olive) oil*, simmondsia chinensis ( jojoba) oil*, rosa canina (rosehip) oil*, pelargonium graveolens (geranium) oil*, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) antioxidant CO2 extract* *Organic
Dry Dark Hair Dry Shampoo, $17 – Dry shampoo is life. People often ask me how I keep my pink its pinkiest, and I always tell them I just don’t wash my hair, haha. While my hair isn’t dark per se, my roots grow in brown, so I rock this “dark hair” dry shampoo when I’m lookin’ Rooty Huxtable. As you can see from the second pic below, it has a subtle brown hue – blends in effortlessly. It’s made with arrowroot powder, kaolin clay, comfrey root powder, marshmallow root powder, nettle leaves powder, chamomile flower powder, and cocoa powder to help strengthen hair, soothe the scalp, and promote fuller hair. And y’all, it smells GORGEOUS – floral and citrusy! I kind of wanna use it as a body powder/perfume. You know what, I’m gonna do that! Another product that’s multifunctional (imo)!
Ingredients: Maranta arundinacea (arrowroot) powder*, kaolin clay, theobroma cacao (cocoa powder)*, symphytum officinalis (comfrey root powder)*, althaea officinalis (marshmallow root powder)*, urtica dioica (nettle leaves powder)*, matricaria recutita (chamomile flower powder)*, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil*, citrus sinensis (sweet orange) peel oil* *Organic
So yeah, mad props and mad love to Skinapy for making good-for-you skin treats that feel and smell delicious. Hope y’all show this sweet indie brand some love.
